Play Facebook video with the screen off on Android

Android suspends Facebook's video when you switch apps or press the power button, and Facebook runs no foreground media service for feed video, so the sound stops with it.

Chrome does hold background audio and publishes media controls to the notification shade and lock screen. Paste a Facebook link into LoopRush and the sound plays there instead, with nothing from the Play Store.

Step by step in Chrome

  1. In Facebook, tap Share under the video, then Copy link.
  2. Open looprush2.com in Chrome and paste the link.

  4. Press the power button or switch apps. Playback continues, and the notification shade shows play, pause and skip.

Send a video straight from Facebook's share sheet

Android lets an installed web app register as a share target, which removes the copy-and-paste step entirely. Open looprush2.com in Chrome, use the menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen, and LoopRush appears in the Android share sheet from then on.

After that, tap Share on any Facebook video, pick LoopRush, and the sound is saved and starts playing without you touching the address bar. Unlike iOS, Android shares Chrome's storage with the installed app, so anything you already saved is still there.

Controls, headphones and the lock screen

Once a sound is playing, Android treats it as normal media. The notification shade and lock screen show the track with transport buttons, and wired or Bluetooth headset buttons map to play, pause, next and previous.

A stack keeps going on its own: when one sound ends the next starts, and repeat and shuffle both work with the screen off, so a long clip or a whole set runs without unlocking the phone.

What it does not do on Android

It is not a downloader. No file lands in your Downloads folder; the audio plays from LoopRush and the video stays on Facebook, one tap away.

It needs a public video. Posts limited to friends, to a private group, or taken down cannot be read.
