Play TikTok sounds in the background on Android
Android suspends TikTok's video when you switch apps or press the power button, and TikTok does not run a foreground media service for audio, so the sound stops with it.
Chrome does hold background audio and publishes media controls to the notification shade and lock screen. Paste a TikTok link into LoopRush and the sound plays there instead, with nothing from the Play Store.
Step by step in Chrome
- In TikTok, tap Share on the video, then Copy link.
- Open looprush2.com in Chrome and paste the link.
- The sound extracts in a few seconds and starts playing.
- Press the power button or switch apps. Playback continues, and the notification shade shows play, pause and skip.
Send a video straight from TikTok's share sheet
Android lets an installed web app register as a share target, which removes the copy-and-paste step entirely. Open looprush2.com in Chrome, use the menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen, and LoopRush appears in the Android share sheet from then on.
After that, tap Share on any TikTok video, pick LoopRush, and the sound is saved and starts playing without you touching the address bar. Unlike iOS, Android shares Chrome's storage with the installed app, so anything you already saved is still there.
Controls, headphones and the lock screen
Once a sound is playing, Android treats it as normal media. The notification shade and lock screen show the track with transport buttons, and wired or Bluetooth headset buttons map to play, pause, next and previous.
A stack keeps going on its own: when one sound ends the next starts, and repeat and shuffle both work with the screen off, so a gym or study set runs without unlocking the phone.
What it does not do on Android
It is not a downloader. No MP3 lands in your Downloads folder; the audio plays from LoopRush and the video stays on TikTok, one tap away.
It needs a public video. Private, deleted and region-locked posts cannot be read.
Questions
- How do I play a TikTok sound in the background on Android?
- Copy the video's link in TikTok, open looprush2.com in Chrome and paste it. The sound plays on its own and keeps going when you switch apps or lock the phone, with controls in the notification shade.
- Can I send a TikTok straight to it from the share sheet?
- Yes. Install LoopRush from Chrome's menu and it registers as an Android share target, so Share then LoopRush saves the sound with no copying.
- Does TikTok have a background play setting on Android?
- No. TikTok pauses when it goes to the background or the screen turns off, and no setting inside the app changes that.
- Do my Bluetooth headphone buttons work?
- Yes. Play, pause, next and previous all work, because the player registers a media session with Android.
- Do I need anything from the Play Store?
- No. It runs in Chrome, and installing it is optional. Installing only adds the home-screen icon and the share-sheet entry.
- Does it work with Instagram Reels?
- Yes. Reel links work the same way, from the address bar or the share sheet.
