Play Instagram Reels in the background on a computer
Instagram on the web is built around the feed. A reel plays while you are looking at it, and the moment you switch tabs or scroll on, the audio you wanted is gone; there is no repeat, no queue and no way to keep one sound going while you work.
LoopRush takes the reel's audio and plays it as a plain track in a tab you can leave alone. It keeps playing while you use other windows, it repeats or shuffles a set, and your keyboard's media keys control it, with nothing to install.
Step by step in any desktop browser
- Open the reel on instagram.com and copy the address from the bar, or copy the link from the app on your phone.
- Go to looprush2.com in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
- Paste the link and press Play it.
- The audio extracts in a few seconds and starts playing. Switch windows or tabs; it keeps going.
Why no extension is involved
The usual desktop advice is an extension that forces Instagram's own player to keep running. That fights the feed rather than replacing it, breaks whenever Instagram changes its player, and only exists for one browser.
Playing the extracted audio avoids all of that. A normal HTML5 audio element keeps playing in a background tab in every browser, so there is nothing to install and nothing to keep up to date.
Which Instagram links work on desktop
Reel addresses in every shape work: instagram.com/reel/…, instagram.com/reels/…, Instagram's own share links, and links carrying tracking parameters. A normal post address that contains a video works too.
Profile addresses, stories and photo-only posts do not, because there is no reel audio behind them, and private accounts cannot be read at all.
Building a set, and taking it with you
Saved sounds go into a stack that plays in order, moves on by itself, and supports repeat one, repeat all and shuffle, which is what makes it usable as background audio for a work session rather than one clip you keep restarting. Reels and TikTok sounds sit in the same stack.
Sounds saved without an account stay in that browser. Signing in with Google puts the stack in your account, so a set built at a desk is on your phone afterwards and plays there with the screen off.
Questions
- How do I play an Instagram reel in the background on a PC?
- Paste the reel's address into looprush2.com in any desktop browser. The audio extracts and plays in that tab, and keeps going while you work in other windows.
- Do I need a browser extension?
- No. The audio plays from a normal web page, which every browser keeps running in a background tab.
- Does it work on a Mac?
- Yes, in Safari, Chrome, Edge or Firefox, and macOS shows the track in its own media controls.
- Can I mix reels and TikTok sounds?
- Yes. One stack holds sounds from both and plays them in order.
- Does it work with private accounts?
- No. Only public reels can be read.
- Can I carry the set to my phone?
- Yes, if you sign in with Google. Stacks in an account appear on every device.
