How to
Play Instagram Reels in the background
Instagram stops a reel as soon as you switch apps or lock the phone, and there is no audio-only mode.
LoopRush works around it: paste the reel link, and it saves the sound as an audio track in a stack. That track keeps playing while you switch apps or lock the phone, with play, pause and skip on the lock screen on iPhone and Android.
It is a separate web app, not an Instagram feature. It plays the sound on its own, with the video one tap away.
Questions
- Which Instagram links work?
- Public reels and video posts: instagram.com/reel/…, instagram.com/reels/… and instagram.com/p/… links, including the share links Instagram's share sheet produces. Private accounts and photo posts cannot be saved.
- Do I need to log in to Instagram?
- No. LoopRush fetches public reels on its server without an Instagram account. If Instagram temporarily limits requests, LoopRush says so and you can try again in a few minutes.
- Can I mix TikTok and Instagram sounds in one stack?
- Yes. A stack is just a list of sounds; where each one came from does not matter to playback, sharing or the lock-screen controls.
- Do I need to install anything?
- No. It runs in Safari on iPhone and Chrome on Android. Add to Home Screen is optional and puts LoopRush in your share sheet.
